An exciting week at STARTUP AUTOBAHN Plug & Play – our Focus Week in October!

Finally Focus Week again! Last week we had some very exciting days at STARTUP AUTOBAHN. We had planned various activities for our startups, our corporate partners and the whole STARTUP AUTOBAHN community – in order to do business and also to have some fun. Here some insights in what happend in our coworking space, at the offices of Daimler, and in the event space.

During our monthly STARTUP AUTOBAHN Plug & Play Meetup the Accelerate Spaces Stuttgart was packed with 100 attendees – corporations, startups, investors, mentors, university and government representatives. Check out the video here! The first item on the agenda was a corporate panel with Dr. Uwe Gross, Business Innovation Manager at Porsche, Marius Pigulla, New Digital Business Manager at Deutsche Bahn and Christoph Röscher, Director Corporate Marketing and Sales at Bosch. Then we moved to the startup pitches:

What they do: Mobile, intuitive, low-cost method to inspect and monitor material shape, deformation and reliability and determine if additional testing is required across different phases of the engineering lifecycle.Based in: Silicon Valley, part of Plug and Play Mobility Program in Sillicon Valley

What they do: atlatec’s mission is to simplify and ease the validation and testing of ADAS.Based in: Karlsruhe

What they do: TruPhysics develops simulation software solutions to support robot development and its control programs by using a real-time and high-resolution physics simulation.Based in: Karlsruhe

During the Meet Daimler Day, the STARTUP AUTOBAHN startups presented in front of TOP decision makers within the Daimler Innovation Network. Furthermore, the startups met with their partners at Daimler for the pilot projects, which are currently being developed between Daimler and the startups. The meetings were followed by a tour through the Daimler plant in Sindelfingen (absolutely interesting) and test driving of some Mercedes Cars with autonomous driving functions (absolutely fun).

A very special VIP Mentoring Session for one of our STARTUP AUTOBAHN startups: The CEO and co-founder of Argus Cyber Security – Ofer Ben-Noon – had the opportunity to meet with Ola Källenius, member of the board of Daimler AG.

Furthermore, two Lunch & Learn Sessions took place in the STARTUP AUTOBAHN coworking space. Dr. Ute Hillmer shared her knowledge about Customer Discovery and Customer Centric Product Development and Mario Buric gave insights into „choosing among 15+ sources of finance“. Great feedback from the startups, e.g.: „The session tremendously helped us to sharpen our focus in the area of product development. We especially loved that we were introduced to concrete techniques to apply in our startup.” (Jens & Kai from NAiSE – Indoor Positioning System)

Behind closed doors, we ran several Deal Flow Sessions between startups and corporations. A Deal Flow Session consists of several one-on-one meetings between the invited corporation and startups which are selected according to the corporation’s technology interests. In the session, startups and corporation can learn more about each other, discuss possible ways to collaborate and decide jointly on next steps.

And of course some social events were on the agenda of the Focus Week as well ? We look forward to our next Focus Week mid of November!
